PREGNANCY YOGA COURSES are an ideal way of enhancing pregnancy by strengthening, toning and preparing muscles particularly those which are used during labour. Each course teaches techniques which help with pregnancy ailments. Deep relaxation and breathing techniques are central themes of her approach and time is given to strengthen the connection between mother & child. A range of techniques is taught to enable women to enter into labour with less fear and more confidence in how to manage this singular event in life.
The courses are suitable for women who are at least 12 weeks pregnant, whether or not they have any experience of yoga. They take place in Deptford, Blackheath & Greenwich, evening & daytime classes. She has also produced a PREGNANCY YOGA CD so the practice can be followed more frequently. (see products).
POST NATAL YOGA FOR MUMS & BABIES is a lot of fun- very informal & a great way to revitalise body, mind & spirit after labour & birth & to help with the major demands of being a mother. Babies love the songs and movements practiced with them, which help with their respiration, circulation and digestion.
Courses are extremely popular. Suitable for babies up to 6 months old. These take place in Deptford on Fridays.
One to One Yoga. After a detailed consultation the client is taught a specific yoga sequence, tailored to their own individual needs, whether this is to manage an existing health condition, or for rehabilitation or to deepen existing knowledge & enhance an existing yoga practice. Depending on the individual need, the sequence may be geared towards yoga asana or breathing or relaxation or a combination of all.
A programme can be devised for anyone regardless of age, sex and physical ability. A first session with a detailed consultation may be up to 2hrs, where a programme is devised and an illustrated guide to their sequence is prepared for the client. This is followed up by another session within the next 7 days to clarify any queries. After this the client may return for weekly sessions, with some sequences eventually being replaced by others as the need arises, or they can practice independently, with meetings every so often to monitor progress. Another option is for the client to attend yoga classes in Greenwich with Bernadette, using their own programme as and when appropriate.
Yoga workshops. These take place on Saturdays in Blackheath. They are suitable for students with some prior experience of yoga.
It enables students to explore in more depth yoga asanas, pranayama (breathing techniques), dharana (concentration) and dhyana (meditation) as well as mantra (chanting), mudra and bandha.
